Maintenance Trainee

(Field/Office Classification)

$2,677/mo - $3,523/mo

This is an entry level class in the Maintenance series. Performs a variety of routine in the maintenance, repair and construction of underground water pipeline systems including: piping, valves, meters, other appurtenances, concrete structures, pressure relief and pressure regulation appurtenances, canals, canal flow control structures, related water distribution facilities and water distribution facilities and construction maintenance and repair of roads, drainage ditches and general right-of-way maintenance. This is an emergency response On-Call position.

Requirements: One year of general construction, water utility or other water system construction maintenance or repair work. Possession of a Valid California Drivers’ License and a driving record acceptable to the District’s automobile insurance provider.

Water Distribution/Maintenance I - $3,749 - $4,933/mo

Recruitment is for 1 Full Time (Field) Position – This is a career opportunity for a self-motivated individual who can perform a variety of duties at various levels depending on the classification involved in the construction, maintenance, repair and related services for the District’s water supply, transport, storage, treatment and distribution systems. This position includes emergency response and On-Call responsibilities.

Requirements: All positions require a Valid California Drivers’ License. Candidate must possess a Class A with Air Brake Endorsement or obtain within 18 months of employment. Requirements for each position in the series are as follows:

WD/M I: One year of experience performing operation and maintenance duties in water distribution. Possession of a Water Distribution Operator Certificate (D1) within one (1) year from date of employment.

WD/M II: Two years of increasingly responsible experience performing operation and maintenance duties in water distribution. Possession of a Water Distribution Operator (D1) and Water Treatment Operator (T1) Certificates, and Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester.

WD/M III: Three years of increasingly responsible experience performing water system treatment and distribution system operation and maintenance duties. Possession of a Water Distribution Operator (D2) and Water Treatment Operator (T2) Certificates, Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester and Cross Connection Control Specialist
